Chincha: earthquakes & hangovers

despite being slightly further away from the Equator , chinchas climate is warmer because it gets more sun.

after 6 nights straight of partying in lima my hopes and dreams of getting just one good night sleep were smashed when cinthia invited me to come to chincha to visit her dads nightclub. i swigged down a bottle of cuzquena beer as cold comfort for my accumulated 6 hangovers and counting and packed a small wash bag for the weekend trip. we took the bus from lima at 9 o clock and arrived in chincha at about 12.
it is a very impressivly designed venue, everything from the decor to the speakers was designed and build by cinthias dad who has been in the business for 26 years. the dancefloor is kitted out with impressive lazers and other lighting.there is a remarkably civilized atmosphere in the nightclubs here. the staff will often serve you at your table, the people dont over do it on the alcohol and dancing is really what its all about. they dont say "lets go out, or lets go to a nightclub " they say "vamos a bailar" lets go to dance.. its hardwired into he language.there are no bouncers, cinthias mother exlained to me that there has never been any fights there in the whole 26 years. and the club stays open until the last few clientele are good and happy to wander off home in the early hours of the morning. since there were no spare rooms i had the luxury of passing out on the sofa in the nightclub around midday after excessive games of pool and beers with the family & staff.
the next afternoon we took a little tour around chincha before retreating back "home" to the nightclub for more punishment until 5AM when we all took the bus back to Lima.
i finally arrived in my dorm bed at 9.00 AM monday morning and dropped into a deep coma untol later that day, only to wake up quite strangley to no hangover!
morning beers & pool outside the nightclub.

chincha was hit hard by the earthquake last year, here is the site of a building that was completely knocked.

this church was also badly damaged.
