i decided to move hostel because i was waking up with a nasty cold every morning which would gradually dissipate during the day. i figured that maybe there is something in the hostel i am allergic to and so i moved to another place a few minutes up the road. im feeling fine today so it seems to have done the trick. its a large hostal, apprently owned by some irish entrepreneurs who also have one in cusco. i was annoyed when the receptionist put a paper bracelet on me with their logo "for security purposes". it made me feel like an escaped hospital patient so i removed it.
also the "free breakfast" is a scam.. for free you get a piece of bread! if you want an actual breakfast you need to pay between 6 and 12 soles!though the breakfast is actually very nice.
i was chuffed at the idea of a 24 hour bar also, and the barman who is also irish was well up for a few late night games of pool. the only thing i miss here is the south american feel and thats particularly notable in their music collection...yep its gringolandia, but its sufficient.
