santiago: gringos, the genius bin and large melons

im currently writing from a laptop i had sent over to me from home so looking forward to blogging a bit more often now.

in the hostel in santiago last night there were many people who had just arrived from new zealand on the plane. south america newbies hehe, i went out to some pubs and clubs with some of them.we were the gringo brigade! which always attracts some of the right and some of the wrogn attention.
it was funny to see there shock on arriving in the latino world. though chile is probably the smoothest introduction you could get. the language is a particular problem. i think anybody coming to south america should learn basic spanish at least.
when the topic comes up, as it very quickly does, i always recommend pimsleur course because thats what did it for me.
its available in almost every language.to date i have not managed to convince anyone at all to take it seriously.. some day someone will and they will be thankful for the gift of a new language.
check out this bin in hostel forestal. i like this idea.

wheres the bin?
dadaa! looks like the lid of a pot.

markets in santiago.
woman peers at me as if i have no manners while i snap a photo of her melons. ....what?
